ITINERARY:
DAY 1 - Exploring Calgary
Upon arrival in Calgary, pick up your rental car and make your way to the downtown of this wild west city. Home to the Calgary Stampede, this city is buzzing with fun activities and sightseeing opportunities to take advantage of. Be sure to make use of your admission and take a ride up Calgary's most famous and identifiable physical landmark The Calgary Tower. Up here you can enjoy the unrivaled 360 degree view of Calgary which towers over the city so high, that you can see the Rocky Mountains in the horizon.
DAY 2 - Calgary to Waterton
Today you will take a scenic drive down to Waterton National Park in southern Alberta. Upon check-in you will be greeted with a Waterton welcome package full of goodies and ideas for your stay in Waterton. The rest of the day is yours to explore on your own or take advantage of the activities in the welcome package.
DAY 3 - Cruising in Waterton
Enjoy a 2.5 hour Waterton Lake cruise today, with a 1/2 hour stop at the Visitor Centre and Ranger Station at Goat Haunt, Montana. View majestic mountains, waterfalls, glaciers, caverns and wildlife along the way. You will have some final time in the afternoon to take advantage of all the activities Waterton has to offer, before returning to your hotel for the final night.
DAY 4 - Waterton to Banff
Take a scenic drive today from one national park to another. Banff is located in the heart of the Majestic Canadian Rockies and is sure to be one of the most beautiful towns you have ever visited. The evening is yours to explore the town, visiting the countless shops and restaurants that dot Banff Avenue.
DAY 5 - Exploring Banff
A full day to explore Banff and area. In town you'll find lots of excitement - shopping, cafes, nightlife, museums. Check out the Cave and Basin National Historic Site, birthplace of Banff and the Canadian national parks. Take a unique cruise on Lake Minnewanka, Banff National Park's largest lake. Banff Gondola will take you high above Banff townsite for an incredible panoramic view. To complete your day, take a dip in the hot mineral pools at the newly-renovated Upper Hot Springs.
DAY 6 - Visiting the Icefield and Jasper
Another great day in the Rockies - travel from Banff to the Columbia Icefield along the amazing Icefields Parkway. You're sure to be enthralled by the scenery, wildlife, incredible blue lakes and sparkling waterfalls en route. Stop for a self-guided interpretive walk at Peyto Lake. Don't miss the Columbia Icefield Visitor Centre and a ride onto the Athabasca Glacier via Brewster's Ice Explorer coach, before continuing onto the quaint alpine town of Jasper.
DAY 7 - Jasper to Edmonton
Today take a scenic drive to the capital city of Alberta - Edmonton. Rich in oil, it is one of Canada's main resource-cities and is known as the "Festival City" for its unique and cultural events which so frequently take place. Take some of the afternoon to explore West Edmonton Mall - North America's 'largest' shopping mall.
DAY 8 - Exploring Edmonton
Included today is admission to the West Edmonton Mall World Water Park and the Galaxyland Amusement Park. Be sure to make good use of these, because tomorrow you will be departing to Drumheller.
DAY 9 - Edmonton to Drumheller
Travel to Drumheller in the Badlands of Alberta where you will explore the fascinating Royal Tyrrell Museum. This famous facility houses more than 30 complete dinosaurs, the largest exhibition in the world. In the afternoon, you may wish to join a two-hour excursion (July - August only) to an actual dig site where you can view paleontologists at work on an excavation of a dinosaur bone bed.
DAY 10 - Drumheller to Calgary
From the Badlands of Alberta, make your way back to the Foothills, and into the city of Calgary. This is where you will spend your final night.
DAY 11 - Departing Calgary
A morning checkout from your Calgary hotel and a return of your rental car to the Calgary International Airport ends your Alberta vacation.
