DAY 2 - Touring Anchorage

Today explore the historic points of interest in downtown Anchorage on a motorcoach tour. Then continue to the 26 acre Alaska Native Heritage Center, a premier cultural center sharing the rich heritage of Alaska’s 11 major cultural groups. Experience Alaska native culture firsthand through engaging storytelling, authentic native song and dance, artist demonstrations, native games demonstrations and more. From Anchorage, you'll travel by deluxe motor coach on the scenic Seward Highway to Portage Glacier. Stop at the Begich-Boggs Visitor Center to see the glaciology exhibits. Then board the MV Ptarmigan for an unforgettable one hour cruise across iceberg-dotted Portage Lake.

DAY 3 - Train Journey from Anchorage to Fairbanks

Today take a train journey from Anchorage to Fairbanks. You will know from the very moment you climb aboard the Alaska Railroad you're riding on the best train in the world. The charm and scenic appeal of this great and vast land is amplified through panoramic windows and underscored by historical narratives of lifelong Alaskan conductors and tour guides. You can watch the drama unfurl in the comfort of forward-facing seats, classic recliners, or sneak peaks of the breathtaking wilderness from one of the many outdoor viewing areas. Satisfy your wanderlust going from circa-50s style coaches, to the upper dome to the dining car. There is no restaurant in Alaska that can match the view.

DAY 4 - Exploring Fairbanks

Today you will be touring the city of Fairbanks, including visits to the historic Gold Dredge No. 8 and the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. A truly authentic gold-mining experience awaits you here. Pan for gold, tour the interior of the dredge, and learn about the gold rush history of the Fairbanks area. Today's tour includes a miner’s lunch as well. Afterwards, take an authentic sternwheeler on a scenic 10 mile roundtrip cruise down the Chena and Tanana rivers. Enjoy lively narration, stop at a reconstructed Athabascan Indian village to learn about native hunting and fishing techniques, and watch a dogsled demonstration.

DAY 5 - Fairbanks to Whitehorse

Today you will depart Fairbanks aboard Air North for a flight into Canada's Yukon Territory. Here you will arrive in Whitehorse, the Yukon's capital city. Upon arrival, check into you overnight hotel and pick up you 6-day car rental. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.

DAY 6 - Cruising in Whitehorse

The White Horse Rapids, now covered by Schwatka Lake, and Miles Canyon presented formidable obstacles to the 19th-century miners who hoped to reach the Klondike gold fields before winter. Listen to the call of the wild and follow in the wake of Jack London and his fellow gold rush stampeders on this unique cruise. While you cruise up the Yukon River and through historic Miles Canyon, the knowledgeable guides aboard the MV Schwatka will recall the drama and excitement of 1898. Afterwards take part in the Frantic Follies Vaudeville Revue. This is a turn of the century vaudeville revue which depicts the entertainment seen by the pioneers of the Great Klondike Gold Rush of 1898. It is known as the most popular and successful show in the Yukon and Alaska.

DAY 7 - Whitehorse to Dawson City

Today, follow the Klondike Highway from Whitehorse to Dawson City. Included today, along with the unrivalled scenery and breathtaking views, is a Chilkoot boxed lunch. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and have the remainder of the evening to explore this wonderful city.

DAY 8 - Sightseeing in Dawson City

Start the day with a vist to the S.S. Keno National Historic Site of Canada. It commemorates the hundreds of riverboats that plied the waterways of Yukon. It was part of a fleet which played a major part in the history of the territory. Without the river boats, the gold of the Klondike and the silver, lead and zinc of the Mayo district would have remained in the hills for at least another half century, and the development of the Canadian West and North would have suffered in consequence. Afterwards make your way to Dredge No. 4. Not long after gold was discovered in the central Yukon, dredges were introduced to the region. One of two dozen dredges that worked this area, Dredge No. 4 rests on Claim 17 Below Discovery on Bonanza Creek near the spot where it ceased operations in 1959. Dredge No. 4 is the largest wooden hull, bucket line dredge in North America and is a significant example of corporate industrial mining in Canada. To complete your day, visit Diamond Tooth Gerties. Thrill to the excitement of the 1890's boom town... Dawson City! Try your luck at the slot machines, roulette or blackjack in Canada's first and most unique casino! Meet Diamond Tooth Gertie and cheer on the Gold Rush Can Can girls during three different shows each night.

DAY 9 - Dawson City to Whitehorse

Today depart Dawson City back to Whitehorse. Check back in to your Westmark hotel and have the remainder of the day at your leisure.

DAY 10 - Departing Whitehorse

A morning check out and a return of your rental car ends your Alaska & Yukon Adventure.
