ITINERARY:

DAY 1 - Arriving in Halifax

Upon arrival in Halifax, pick up your rental vehicle and proceed to your downtown hotel. The evening is yours to explore this lovely port city and visit the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site.

DAY 2 - Exploring Halifax

Spend a day in the capitol city of Nova Scotia. Begin with a 2.5 hour nature and whale watching cruise aboard the Haligonian III with opportunity to view minke whales, pilot whales, fin whales, dolphins, seals and maritime birds. Later on, join a guided tour of the Alexander Keith's Brewery. Animators portraying characters of the 1800's will acquaint you with the oldest working brewery in North America.

DAY 3 - Halifax to Baddeck

Leave Halifax to day and travel to Baddeck located in the heart of Cape Breton on the beautiful Bras d'Or Lakes, an inland sea and a sailor's paradise! It is also the 'beginning and end of the Cabot Trail', a world famous scenic drive noted for its spectacular vistas of rolling seaside terrain and breathtaking seascapes! Upon arrival into Baddeck, check into your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day.

DAY 4 - Sightseeing in Baddeck

The exploration of Cabot Trail will fill your day with vibrant scenery and stunning seascapes. Visit the Cape Breton Highlands National Park for a variety of hikes, outdoor activities and interpretive programs. Return to Baddeck for an evening at leisure.

DAY 5 - Baddeck to Charlottetown

Leave the Cape Breton area and travel to Prince Edward Island. Travel by ferry from Caribou Nova Scotia to Wood Island, Prince Edward Island. Make your way Charlottetown and visit to Province House National Historic Site. Considered the “Birthplace of Confederation,” the first meeting to discuss federal union was held there in 1864. The Confederation Chamber and several other rooms have been restored to their 19th Century appearance. The building also houses the Provincial Legislature. Founders Hall on the Charlottetown waterfront that will transport you back to The Charlottetown Conference of 1864 and the birth of Canada as a nation.

DAY 6 - Explore Charlottetown

This morning, take a seal watching tour (included). Cruise in comfort, rain or shine, the Manada and Manada II are fully equipped for comfort and safety. The tour includes a 99% chance of seeing Harbor and Grey Seals in the wild, as well as many native Sea Birds and occasionally dolphins. Afterwards, return to Charlottetown and your hotel. Remember, you should not leave Prince Edward Island without enjoying the included Lobster Dinner at New Glasgow.

DAY 7 - Charlottetown to Moncton

Travel from Charlottetown to Moncton today on the famous Confederation Bridge. The Confederation Bridge joins the provinces of Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick, and forms part of the Trans Canada Highway-making travel to and from the mainland fast and simple. A close 30 minutes from the Nova Scotia/New Brunswick border, the engineering marvel is open year-round 24 hours a day and takes a little over 10 minutes to cross. Upon arrival into Moncton, check into you hotel.

DAY 8 - Moncton to St. Andrew's-by-the-Sea

Make your way to one of New Brunswick's most popular destinations today. On the way be sure to stop at Hopewell Rocks. Experience some of the world's highest tides at this most notable attraction in New Brunswick. Walk on the ocean floor amongst the famous Flower Rock Pots (3 hours before and 3 hours after low tide).

DAY 9 - Exploring St. Andrew's-by-the-Sea

Today take some time to visit the Kingsbrae Garden - a 27 acre horticultural masterpiece which is named one of Canada's top ten public gardens. Built on the grounds of several grand old estates, Kingsbrae Garden has been created incorporating mature cedar hedges, flowers beds and an old-growth forest. Follow walking paths through magnificent collections of over 45,000 flowers, shrubs and trees. .

DAY 10 - St. Andrew's-by-the-Sea to Digby

Leave scenic St. Andrews and travel to Digby, Nova Scotia. In 1783 Digby was settled by a hearty band of United Empire Loyalists led by Rear Admiral, Sir Robert Digby, Captain of the HMS Atlanta, a 24 gun Brigantine, leading the North American Squadron. In appreciation of Adm. Digby's leadership and guidance the early settlers from New York and New England named the new town in honour of their benefactor.

DAY 11 - Sightseeing in Digby

From the seaport of Yarmouth, the tides of Fundy rise until they reach a high of up to 16.5 metres (54 feet) at the headwaters of the Bay of Fundy's Minas Basin. The Evangeline through some of North America's earliest Trail parallels the Fundy coast, passing European history and the delightful villages and orchards of the Annapolis Valley. It's a journey that spans 400 years of settlement, a journey that encompasses past fortresses, farms and fishing villages, a journey rich in culture, diversity, charm and natural beauty. During your adventures today, enjoy a Brier Island Whale and Seabird Cruise to an area teeming with marine life. Humpback, Finback, and Right Whale species are known to frequent the area, along with dolphins and many seabirds.

DAY 12 - Digby to Halifax

Depart Digby and travel back to Halifax today. There are endless wildlife viewing areas, lookouts, beaches, trails and Provincial parks to stop at en route, to get your final glimpse of the beauty of this fascinating maritime province.

DAY 13 - Departing Halifax

A morning check out from your hotel and drop off of the rental vehicle concludes your Atlantic Canada Discovery.
