ITINERARY:

DAY 1 - Arriving in Vancouver

After arriving in Vancouver, transfer independently to your overnight accommodation. The remainder of the day will be yours to discover this beautiful coastal city.

DAY 2 - VIA Rail's 'Canadian' from Vancouver to Jasper

Today is free to explore Vancouver. This evening board VIA Rail’s “Canadian” for your journey to Jasper (taxi transfer to rail station included). This experience with its award-winning service is luxury on rails. Points of interest will include Hell’s Gate (gorge), Suicide Rapids in the North Thompson Canyon, and the Cisco Tunnels above the Fraser River. Please note that dinner is not included onboard the train this evening.

DAY 4 - Exploring Jasper

Today's excursion takes you along the world-famous Icefields Parkway to the Athabasca Glacier for the Columbia Icefield Glacier Experience. Return to Jasper in the later afternoon for your second night stay.

DAY 5, 6 & 7 - VIA Rail's 'Canadian' from Jasper to Toronto

Late this morning, transfer to the Jasper train station (transfer included) to board VIA Rail’s “Canadian”. This afternoon, depart the peaceful mountain town of Jasper on your westbound odyssey across the great Canadian plains and beyond. Your destination is Toronto, the economic center of Canada. Lunch and dinner are included this evening onboard the train. For the next two days, continue traveling across the Great Central Plains of Canada, through Winnipeg to the rugged forest and lake country to northern Ontario. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included onboard the train each day.

DAY 8 - Arriving in Toronto

Breakfast is once again included onboard the train. This morning, arrive in Toronto, Canada’s most cosmopolitan city. It is a city of contrasts; the soaring glass and concrete towers of the financial heart of the country and the parks, gardens and lakefront boardwalks of a host of communities. It is a cultural storehouse with great museums and galleries. Toronto is also a shopper’s paradise, from the chic boutiques of Yorkville or the lofty glass palace of the Eaton Centre to the fruit and vegetable stalls of the St. Lawrence Market. Transfer via taxi to your selected hotel (transfer not included).

DAY 9 - Visiting Niagara Falls

This morning, depart on a full day sightseeing excursion to Niagara Falls. Travel through the orchard-laden Niagara Peninsula to Niagara Falls, one of the great wonders of the world. Highlights of today’s excursion include a lunch buffet (included) while overlooking the falls, plus a trip of the world-famous “Maid of the Mist”, (included and seasonal) which travels to the base of the majestic Horseshoe Falls. Also included is a trip along the beautiful River Road, which winds its way along the Niagara Gorge. Stops are made at the Floral Clock and at the historical community of Niagara-on-the-Lake before returning to Toronto.

DAY 10 - VIA Rail's 'Business Class' from Toronto to Montréal

Today, enjoy a delicious meal and spectacular scenery as you travel by VIA Rail in business class to Montréal. On arrival at Montreal's Central Station, you will transfer on your own to your selected hotel.

DAY 11 - Sightseeing in Montreal

Your discovery of Montreal, the world's second-largest French-speaking city, begins with a city tour including Old Montreal, Notre Dame Basilica, Olympic Park and Mount Royal Park for a view of Montreal Harbour and the St. Lawrence River. The remainder of the day is yours to explore cafes and boutiques, or the extensive "underground" including shops and restaurants.

DAY 12 - VIA Rail's 'Ocean' from Montréal to Halifax

Your day is at leisure, before your evening rail journey to Halifax. VIA Rail's 'Ocean' is the finest way to appreciate the splendid scenery of Canada's Maritime provinces. After a dreamy sleep, this morning enjoy a continental breakfast before arriving in Halifax. Feel free to explore the train and discover how train travel has come of age in Atlantic Canada. A late afternoon arrival and transfer on your own to your hotel begins your stay in Atlantic Canada.

DAY 13 - Arriving in Halifax

Your rail journey to Halifax continues on board. VIA Rail's 'Ocean' is the finest way to appreciate the splendid scenery of Canada's Maritime provinces. This morning enjoy a continental breakfast before arriving in Halifax. Feel free to explore the train and discover how train travel has come of age in Atlantic Canada. A late afternoon arrival and transfer to your hotel begins your stay in Atlantic Canada.

DAY 14 - Exploring Halifax

With plenty of time to relax, you'll get acquainted with this historic city founded in 1749 as a British garrison town. Highlights of this morning's tour include Citadel Hill, Point Pleasant Park and Bedford Basin. The remainder of the day is free to discover the restaurants and boutiques housed in restored structures that represent the character of privateer days.

DAY 15 - Departing Halifax

Your Quebec to the Maritimes vacation concludes upon checkout from your Halifax hotel.
