ITINERARY:

DAY 1 - Arriving in Montréal

An overnight stay in Montreal begins your vacation. If you have the time, be sure to make use of your 3 day museum pass which will grant you admission to over 20 museums and attractions.

DAY 2 - Discovering Montréal

Today's walking tour includes lots of information on history and architecture, and many anecdotes revealing the secrets of Old Montreal, from yesterday to today! From Place d'Armes to Place Jacques-Cartier, including the Royal Bank, Notre-Dame Basilica, Cours Le Royer, St. Jacques, Notre-Dame and St. Paul Streets, City Hall, the Champ de Mars and the old Bonsecours Market. After your unique walking tour, make your way to the close-by Auberge Saint Gabriel for an unforgettable dinner.

DAY 3 - Montréal to Québec City

The morning is yours to do some final exploring of Montréal. This afternoon, board 'VIA 1' for your journey to historic Québec City. Relax over dinner en route.

DAY 4 - Exploring Québec City

Today you will eperience the European charm of the first French settlement in North America. Highlights of your two hour tour include the Latin Quarter, the Plains of Abraham, the Ramparts, world famous Fairmont Chateau Frontenac, the National Assembly, the Basilica, City Hall, Place Royale, the Citadelle and a glimpse of modern Québec City. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to explore.

DAY 5 - VIA Rail's 'Ocean' from Québec City to Halifax

The day is free for you to explore the city's "old world" charm. Enjoy sidewalk cafes, outdoor displays by Quebec artists, and the unique French Canadian culture. Afterwards you will have another suculent meal at the Aux Anciens Canadiens. This evening, transfer to the Charny Station to begin your train journey to Halifax. Overnight onboard VIA Rail.

DAY 6 - Arriving in Halifax

Your rail journey to Halifax continues on board. VIA Rail's 'Ocean' is the finest way to appreciate the splendid scenery of Canada's Maritime provinces. This morning enjoy a continental breakfast before arriving in Halifax. Feel free to explore the train and discover how train travel has come of age in Atlantic Canada. A late afternoon arrival and transfer to your hotel begins your stay in Atlantic Canada.

DAY 7 - Exploring Halifax

Today you will take a 2.5 hour cruise. The tour boat - "The Haligonian III" - makes its way to the Chebucto Head at the mouth of the Halifax Harbour. The narrator will tell you about the history and geography of Halifax Harbour. You may see minke whales, pilot whales and fin whales as well as dolphins, seals and many marine birds. Afterwards, make your way to the famous Alexander Keith's Brewery where you will take an interpretive tour and acquire some samples.

DAY 8 - Departing Halifax

Your Quebec to the Maritimes vacation concludes upon checkout from your Halifax hotel.
