ITINERARY:
DAY 1 - Arriving in Vancouver
Upon arrival in Vancouver, transfer (not included) to your selected hotel. The rest of the day is yours to explore the highlights of the city. Some suggested stops are Granville Island, Stanley Park, Robson Street, Capilano Suspension Bridge, Aquarium, Art Museum and Science Centre - all are within walking distance or a short taxi ride from your hotel.
DAY 2 and 3 - 'Rocky Mountaineer' to Kamloops and Jasper
Begin your train adventure with a morning taxi transfer (included) to the Vancouver train station where the 'Rocky Mountaineer' awaits. Follow the Fraser River to the interior of British Columbia. You will stay overnight in Kamloops and return to the Kamloops train station early the next morning. Transfer is included to continue your rail journey into the mountains. Following the Thompson River, pass Mt. Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Arrive in Jasper late afternoon for an overnight stay.
DAY 4 - Jasper to Banff Sightseeing
Venture southward along one of the most scenic highways in the world. The Icefield Parkway is highlighted by frequent wildlife sightings, glacier-fed lakes, waterfalls and broad-reaching valleys that meet majestic peaks. At the Columbia Icefield, an opportunity to tour the Athabasca Glacier on board one of Brewster's environmentally-sensitive Ice Explorers awaits (included, seasonal*). From the Icefield Centre, continue your journey along the Parkway to Lake Louise and Banff.
DAY 5 - Cruising in Banff
Join a motorcoach sightseeing transfer headed past Mount Norquay, Cascade Mountain, and Upper & Lower Bankhead. Continuing on to Lake Minnewanka, you will board a 1 hour interpretive boat cruise around the largest lake within Banff National Park. Learn about the natural history and native legends that make this lake a landmark. After the cruise, your driver guide will pick you up from the dock and drive you to some animal 'hotspots' where you will have excellent oppurtunities to spot some of Banff's famous wildlife, including Deer, Elk, Coyotes, Bears, and much more! Your excursion concludes with a transfer back to the Banff townsite.
DAY 6 - Departing Banff
Learn about the geology, native history and wildlife while exploring Banff and its surroundings. Start your morning with a short tour visiting such points as Bow Falls, and Surprise Corner. Then it is a stop at the Banff Gondola to ride up into the mountain tops for spectacular views from a one kilometer boardwalk or 360 degree observation deck. A short drive through the town of Banff and the tour travels east down Highway #1. The next stop will be at Stoney Nakoda Resort where there will be time to visit the Native Heritage artifacts exhibit. Lunch will be at leisure. Time will be set aside to participate in an optional Heli-Tour over the Kananaskis Valley or an optional Dreamcatcher excursion in a Terra-Bus to a First Nations Village and through the near by Buffalo Paddock. Your final destination will be downtown Calgary or the Calgary International Airport.
*When day tours or attractions are not operational in the off-season, the price will be adjusted or there will an alternative excursion/attraction made available.
