ITINERARY:

DAY 1 - Kelowna to Penticton

Upon arrival at the Kelowna Airport, pick up a rental car (included) and travel to Penticton, a fair weather destination and one of the only Canadian cities located in a semi-arid desert region. Explore the area tonight. Cradled within tree trimmed mountain slopes, dramatic cliffs, and bordered by two pristine lakes, Penticton offers her natural beauty all year round. The semi arid desert climate provides more than 2000 hours of sunshine each year! Some of the major attractions are: wineries, fruit orchards, Okanagan Lake, Skaha Lake, Channel between the lakes and Farmer John's Petting Zoo. (Attractions not included).

DAY 2 - Exploring Penticton

Today, go on winery tasting adventure! Visit 4 wineries including See Ya Later Ranch, Jackson-Triggs Okanagan Estate and Sumac Ridge Estate Winery. Lunch is included today at the Cellar Door Bistro. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

DAY 3 - Penticton to Osoyoos

Leave Penticton today and travel to Osoyoos, one of the hottest areas in Canada. Osoyoos is located in one of the most unusual geographical regions in Canada. The community lies in the shadow of the Cascade Mountains creating a hot, sunny, dry climate. For this reason, the area boasts its own climate zone called "Osoyoos Arid Biotic Zone." Canada's lowest annual precipitation, warmest annual temperature, and warmest fresh water lake can be found here. This arid zone is the northern tip of the Sonoran Desert which extends from Mexico into Canada. It is biologically classified as Canada's only desert because of the unique flora and fauna that call the area home. There are many local cultural museums and outdoor activities such as waterskiing, fishing, golfing and wildlife viewing.

DAY 4 - Osoyoos to Merritt

Today, leave the wineries and desert and travel to ranching country. The city of Merritt is your destination today. Right from the beginning, early settlers were attracted to the area because of its rich grasslands ideally suited for livestock (Ranching remains an important part of Merritt's economy).

DAY 5 - Sightseeing in Merritt

Today, explore the area. There are many historic sites in Merritt such as the Baillie House (built in 1908) and Douglas Lake Ranch. Established in 1886, it is Canada's largest working cattle ranch. The ranch is approximately 515,000 acres in size, has in the neighbourhood of 18,000 head of cattle.

DAY 6 - Merritt to Chase

Depart Merritt today and travel towards Chase. You are entering the Shuswap area of British Columbia. With one thousand kilometres (600 miles) of shoreline possessing 25 marine parks, sandy beaches, private coves and narrow channels, this area deserves its distinction of being “The House Boating Capital of Canada.” Your destination today is the town of Chase located on Little Shuswap Lake. The local scenery is a study in contrasts with rolling ranchlands and thick forests.

DAY 7 - Chase to Kelowna

Return to Kelowna today. Travel through rich farmlands, vineyards and orchards. Don’t forget to stop by a local fruit stand. They offer an outstanding variety of local fruits, vegetables and preserves. Upon arrival back into Kelowna, your ranch stay concludes with the return of your rental vehicle.
