ITINERARY:

DAY 1 - Arrival in Tofino

Pick up your rental car (not included)* and proceed to the Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal for your 90 minutes journey across Georgia Strait to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. Drive west to the Pacific Rim National Park and Tofino. You travel through ancient rainforests and spectacular mountain passes to the Pacific Ocean. Check in to your room at the Best Western Tin Wis Resort for the next three nights and start exploring. Tofino is known for it's beautiful scenery, whales and storm watching, but it is also home to a number of artists and artisans who take their inspiration from the local outdoors. Wander the many galleries and shops as you acclimatize yourself to the West Coast lifestyle of Tofino.

DAY 2 - Wildlife Watching in Tofino

Today you have a variety of activities to choose from. Grey Whales and Orcas, Eagles and Sea lions, this excursion into the Clayoquot Sound and the traditional feeding grounds of the Grey Whale is a marine lovers dream. Excursion is approximately 2 to 3 hours in length and there are multiple departures to choose from. Or if you prefer, explore the sheltered coves of Clayoquot Sound during low tide on this Bear Watching Marine Eco-Cruise. The Black Bears favourite delicacy is Rock Crab, and at low tide they come down to the beach to forage among the rocks and driftwood. You will watch in safety from your boat offshore. The rest of the day is at your leisure to explore this coastal town. Perhaps you would like to take the tour you didn't select or a short drive away is Long Beach in Pacific Rim National Park, a 10 mile long stretch of sand along the Pacific Ocean.

DAY 3 - Exploring Tofino

Today takes you to the relaxing pools at Hot Springs Cove by way of the "Sharp Point", on a 35 foot cabin cruiser, with indoor and outdoor viewing decks. Allowing about 1.25 hours to reach the docks, you'll pass the feeding bays of the gray whales en route and do some whale watching, weather and whales permitting. The one mile boardwalk through the ancient rainforest takes approximately 45 minutes (each way). Although the trail is not overly strenuous, it may not be suitable for everyone. This leaves you 1.5 - 2 hours to soak in the pools. This tour is 6 hours in total. There are no amenities at the Springs other than a change room and enviro-toilets.

DAY 4 - Departing Tofino

Time for you to return to the exciting city life Canada has to offer. On your return to Vancouver you may wish to stop at Coombs Country Market, fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods, arts & crafts, all at a one of a kind market with sod roof, where you can see goats grazing!!!! Board B.C. Ferries at Nanaimo for the 90-minute journey back to Horseshoe Bay and then the short drive to Vancouver and return of your car at the Airport or downtown. If you have time, be sure to check out the world-famous Capilano Suspension Bridge located in north Vancouver.

On Day 2 you will have the choice of taking either the Tofino Whale Watching Tour or the Black Bear Viewing Tour. Please refer to the above itinerary for more information about each tour.
