Banff National Park is located in the Canadian Rocky Mountains on the Alberta side of the Continental Divide. It is 128 kilometres (80 miles) west of Calgary, 401 kilometres (250 miles) southwest of Edmonton and 850 kilometres (530 miles) east of Vancouver. If you are driving to Banff, the Trans-Canada Highway (#1) runs west from Calgary into the park and through Banff and Lake Louise, continuing west to Vancouver. Lake Louise is located 55 kilometres (35 miles) to the west of the town of Banff, and Jasper in Jasper National Park is 287 kilometres (180 miles) to the northwest.
